In his announcement that clearly hints at his upcoming foray into politics, actor Vijay reiterated the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's condemnation of the Sri Lankan Government for its alleged human rights violation in the fourth Eelam war. In the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had brought up the issue of United Nations' observation on the fourth and final Eelam War. The international organisation had said that Sri Lanka may have committed human rights violations in the final phase of this war.
The Chief Minister had requested the Indian Government to enforce economic sanctions on the island nation to express condemnation for the alleged human rights violations. Actor Vijay appreciated the Chief Minister in her efforts to bring about an economic sanction on Sri Lanka. The actor also said that such a move would win the hearts of Tamils around the world.
