“I’m so happy that the alliance we supported has won and formed government in the State,” Vijay told members of his Makkal Iyakkam. He also urged them to do ‘something more’ than merely purchasing the tickets for the first day’s shows of his new films and erecting banners and cut-outs outside the halls screening his movies.
“All of you should provide your maximum possible support to the new ruling set-up in the State… It’s your duty to look after your families first and then indulge in entertainment-related work and other social services. In case you find any difficulty in doing so, I’m always there to help you out,” saidVijay whose fans took his word to support ‘Amma’, forgot their own party affiliations and went all-out in their effort to ensure the victory of AIADMK and its allies.
The usually shy actor extolled his fans to continue the good work even in the post-poll scenario. He caught them off guard by singing for them a song from his upcoming film ‘Velayudham’. “Each actor has this thing called gut feeling which tells him or her that he/she is onto something big while working on some projects. Velayudham is one such film and I’m sure director ‘Jeyam’ Raja has done a marvelous job which would ensure the success of the film in theatres,” said Vijay, who was accompanied by his father and producer-director S.A Chandrasekaran.
He quoted Swamy Vivekananda’s teachings and urged them to act ‘speedily but in a clever manner’. The highlight of the event was the sumptuous meals he provided to his fans and office-bearers of his ‘Makkal Iyakkam’.
